One of the best parts of a wedding is choosing your wedding attire. It takes several months to find one or create a new one. Then, the bride proudly wears it on her special day for everyone to see. But what comes after is nothing short of a tragedy for the outfit. It will be hung somewhere in the deep corners of your closet never to see light of day again. Even though trends change you can still style them with the help of a stylist into new designs. But in order to rework on the existing material you need to take care of the fragile fabric. This is the way to do it.
Dry clean it without delay
You should clean it immediately after the day of the wedding. If not, the stains will set and it will be difficult for you to remove it. Ideally, it is best if you dry clean it within one week of the wedding.
Re-finishing
When the dry cleaning process is over you should take them to the designer and check for any loose ends, fallen stones, sequins, loose threads etc.
Fold in the right way
It is recommended not to hang your wedding lehenga. It will make it look shapeless. Instead, you can fold it and place it in a box. Most attires will have stones, sequences, etc. It would be advisable to place tissues in between to avoid.
Protect from insects
You can put some dry neem leaves or lavender sachets to prevent the attack of insects
Covering
Cover your lehenga with an unbleached muslin cloth. This helps to avoid discolouring. You should make sure that you are not going to wear it for the next few months. The continuous packaging and reopening can cause serious damages.
Storing
Store your outfits in a dry and cool place. Do not place your wedding attire in a plastic cover for a long time.
Get the right box
You should choose the right box to pack your wedding outfit. It is always recommended to choose a solid card box made from wood. You should pack in a way that no light enters the box. If it happens, it can damage your dress. Place a tissue at the top of the dress after packing.
Allow it to breath
Always take your outfit out to air from time to time. It will keep the outfit fresh for a longer time.
Check and Refold
You should check your outfits from time to time to check for marks and creases, so that you can save the fabrics from the same.
