Taking Centre Stage
A great idea as centre-piece for the wedding table are – succulents. If you would like to avoid fancy centrepieces, this simple cactus placed in recycled planters serves two purposes – a creative idea and an eco-friendly one!
How To: Gather old planters like tin cans and wooden boxes for the base and plant small succulents of your choice in them. Next, place a few river rocks at the bottom of the can to help in the drainage. Remove the succulent from its container and place on top of the rocks. Fill in the sides of the planter with extra soil, but not too much just till the brim.
Let Love Grow
As you enter into a new beginning in life, share a part of your journey with your wedding guests by giving them a souvenir to remember this occasion and nurture it with care. Give small plants as wedding favours to your guests.
How To: Selected from multiple printable themes or designed for you, the first step is to get packets for the favour printed and ready. The next step is to fill the packet with the seeds of your choice bought from gardening stores. Make sure to pick seeds that best suit your personality as a couple or go with the theme of your wedding, be it wildflower or herb seeds.
Drop A Word
Long marriages are hard work. The best gift that any couple can get is the gift of wisdom from those who have gone through the same hurdles they may have faced, or just have words of advice to share. Make the opportunity for all your guests to leave a little note or message.
How to: Get yourself any container from a wooden box to woven basket that goes with your wedding theme. Stock up the container with stacks of stationery paper that guests can leave their message notes in. The final step is to make an “Advice For The Couple” sign which can be handwritten or printed out to suit your whim.
The Story of Us
A wedding timeline is a perfect addition to your grand occasion as they make for a great decor addition as well as add a touch of sentimental value.
How To: Get a frame of your choice by removing the mirror or glass and backing for an old but aesthetic mirror. Paint the frame in the colour of your choice or leave it as is. Paint the mirror or backing with chalkboard paint from side-to-side from topto-bottom of the frame. Once all the paint has dried, you can put everything back together and use chalk to write your words and add any patterns or embellishments of choice.
All Lit Up
An outdoor night wedding is the perfect place to play with lights to add a hint of magic to your wedding ceremonies. Simple twine balls accented with lights can add a hint of warmth and charm to your wedding.
How To: Blow up balloons to the desired size. Run a twine through a mixture of glue, cornstarch and warm water. Cover each of the balloons with petroleum jelly and start wrapping the twine around it in a pattern, first vertically and then horizontally. Suspend the balloons to dry overnight. Finally, pop the balloons and quickly spray paint it clear and feed strand lights through the twine, and plug in.
Run Along
Here is something that you don’t see too often, but is absolutely striking for the wedding table – a twig table runner up. The texture and the colour will add a little something extra even for a minimal place setting.
How To: Decide the length of the runner and cut two wide ribbons of this length. Gather and cut twigs of choice to equal length and in enough number to cover the length of the ribbon which works as the base of the runner. Lay twigs across the length of the ribbons. Stick the twigs using hot glue. glue. Allow natural variation in the spacing of the twigs to given an organic look.
